Celebrity Theatresports® 2004
goes BOLLYWOOD!

Once a year ‘the stars come out to play’, throwing caution (and egos!) to the wind in a night of improvised comic competition. This year the theme is Bollywood – over-the-top, larger-than-life, Indian-style schlock!

Celebrities line up with Australia's Theatresports® legends 29th May, Enmore Theatre. Among this cast of the best of the best, are the talented performers, producers and directors of the majority of successful ground breaking improvisational shows in this country.

CAST BIOGRAPHIES

Rebecca De Unamuno

Rebecca began playing Theatresports in 1996 and has performed regularly at Belvoir St Theatre and the Enmore Theatre. She is a two-time Cranston Cup Champion and was a member of the World Improv Championship winning team(2001 Just For Laughs Festival, Montreal ) and was named Player of the Tournament.

On radio she has been a co-host of The Late Night Chaser (Triple M Sydney), the Triple M Breakfast Show in Sydney and is a regular guest on The Whole Shebang (Triple M). Rebecca was also a voice-over artist on the CD Hollywood Motel (Warner Music). Her television credits include The Election Chaser (ABC TV), The Glasshouse (ABC TV), Big Bite (Seven Network), CNNNN (ABC TV) and Hamish and Andy (Seven Network).

Rebecca’s stage credits include Impro @ the store (Sydney Comedy Store), 3 Radicals (2001 Edinburgh Fringe Festival), Cops on Heat (2002 Melbourne Comedy Festival), Text in the City with Dublin Improv & London Comedy Store Players, (2002 Edinburgh Festival), Crash Boom Bang Theory (2002 Adelaide Fringe Festival, 2002 Edinburgh Festival), Impro Sundae (The Comic’s Lounge, Melbourne), The Great Debate (2004 Melbourne International Comedy Festival).

In 2003 Rebecca was nominated for Most Outstanding Newcomer to Television at the inaugural Australian Comedy Awards.

David Callan

David Callan’s varied career as an entertainer has seen him appear at the major comedy festivals in Australia, tour the US and South East Asia, turn Bondi Beach into the best venue at the Sydney Olympics as the host and resident raconteur of the Olympic Beach Volleyball and appear in SBS’s critically acclaimed impro-drama, Going Home.

Most recently David took his one-man show I Spied - True Confessions of an ASIO Spy, to the Adelaide Fringe where it quickly became the must-see ticket when David was the first performer in Fringe history to be given six out of five stars by the Adelaide Advertiser, as well as being awarded the Fringe Excellence Award. David will be touring Australia with I Spied in 2005.

Ewan Campbell

Ewan Campbell has been involved in performing since 1986 ranging from film television and Theatresports, Ewan has performed many times on the Belvoir St stage and the Enmore, and has been involved in nearly every Cranston cup since 1987, he is also can be seen as the Taped Crusader on Channel 9's top rating Funniest Home Video Show. He has a wealth of performing experience in the corperate sector and he is one of the country’s top improvisors and enjoys decoupage.

Tom Dunstan

Tom was raised by wolfs or in a barn, depending on which parent you ask. He was unable to hold down a job till he was 15 due to not being able to "reach stuff"... and that legal thing. Tom started his eclectic career in Queensland. However unable to get any work as an eclectic he turned to improvised comedy. Partly due to the glamour and the women, but mostly due to the fact that he is too lazy to learn lines... or... to read.

Tom can currently be seen at the Tuesday night show Scared Scriptless at the Arthouse Hotel which he directs and performs, in the hope of finding more midgets.

Bianca Dye

Mornings DJ Nova 969, Arena Tv Presenter, Feature writer Daily Telegraph. The sexy-voiced outspoken and uninhibited morning presenter at Nova 969 has her finger in plenty of pies. Six years at the station and winner of the AWARD for being Australia's best music personality, Bianca holds her own in TV's relationship version of parliament question time 'BEAUTY and THE BEAST' as a regular panelist. She's also a feature writer for the Daily telegraph, had a stint presenting the weather on Channel 10 and done lots of commercials and admits that trying her hand at Theatresports has long been an ambition of hers.

John Knowles


John Knowles has produced, directed and performed in comedy shows for over his 15 years. Straight out of..er...thrown out of...Canada's most recognised acting school Ryerson, John began creating comedy shows including the successful Gods Cowboys - that meat-worshipping evangelist trio, IMPROZAC - the TV Hospital
parody, The Guys With Cameras On Their Heads - Super-hero Camera-headed duo with Comic and Writer Steve Walsh, and Cops On Heat - the improvised TV Police Show parody and hit of the 2001 and 2002 Melbourne International Comedy Festivals. He recently was awarded the presigious Moosehead Comedy Award at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival for his one person show entitled, O John Knowles Is Saddle Sore.

John's performance credits include:
Off The Cuff, The Royal Rumble, Abandon Script, Extreme Theatresports and the recent sell-out show, The Comedy Improlympiad, which John directed, produced and performed in at Belvoir Street Theatre. He has acted on many Australian television shows and commercials including his simpleton character as featured on a recent 'Footy Show' episode where he drove footballer Mark Geyer to distraction in a candid camera type hoax. John is on a strict detoxification diet as he tries to eliminate puns from his routines.

Rebecca Le Tourneau

Gabby Millgate

Gabby Millgate is known for not being herself. She is known as that girl who said "you're terrible Muriel", that skater boy who said "In the House" on Celebrity Big Brother and that nun who said "I'm not wearing any underpants" at the Logies. Gabby Millgate's TV Comedy Credits include Totally Full Frontal, McFeast Live and Good News Week. She recently had a guest role on McLeods Daughters.

Nicola Parry

Nicola trained and tutored at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA), was Associate Director at London's premier new-writing theatre - the Bush Theatre London, and is currently the General Manager of Actors Centre Australia. She has appeared in numerous Theatresports® seasons at Belvoir street and Enmore Theatres, including Rumble II, A Regular One Night Stand, Celebrity Theatresports Challenge, Cranston Cup and King of the Hill. Nicola currently appears in the Think Fresh Improv Challenge screening on the
Comedy Channel, and was a member of the team 'Gutter Trash', who won the 2002 Cranston Cup. Nicola also performs improvised comedy regularly with 'Explosive Minds'.

Lisa Ricketts

Bursting onto the Theatresports scene in 1995, Lisa soon became a star of the improvised comedy show 'Improzac'. Lisa made the transition into stand-up comedy in 1997, was a finalist in the prestigious 1997 'Comic of the Year' competition run by the Comedy Hotel, Harold Park, and has performed in venues in Sydney and Newcastle. In 1999, Lisa teamed up with two fellow improvisers to form 'Explosive Minds!' Pty Ltd, an improvised comedy trio who perform exclusively for the corporate market, conducting training sessions in spontaneity and teamwork, and generally entertaining clients such as AMP, Eli Lilly, Johnson & Johnson and Deutsche Bank.

Mark Streeter

Taking time off from his other job as a Cabinet Minister in the Japanese government tonight is Mark Streeter. Since studying drama near NIDA he has performed in a wide range of comic entertainments at the Harold Park Hotel, Comedy Store, Melbourne Comedy Festival and other salubrious venues. He has been an ace player and host at Theatresports for ages and his team won the Cranston Cup in 2001. Mark has also written and performed for a number of well regarded television programs including The Money of the Gun, the spicy dating show Simply Irresistible, Shafted and many more. As a good improviser he says yes to everything and looks forward to your company after the show.

Nigel Sutton

Nigel's career as an actor and writer has taken him all over the world working in Corporate Entertainment, Television, Film and Stage. His comedic talents are well known in Sydney from his involvement with Thearesports and his character the 'Reverend' from the long running smash hit comedy IMPROZAC. He has appeared in "THE PITCH", Comedy Hotel Sydney, FCFTV 1999 Sydney Comedy Festival, WHO KILLED SANTA, Comedy Hotel Sydney, IMPRO@THE STORE, The Comedy Store, Fox Studios, was co host of Foxtel's SCI FILES on TV1 and appeared in the  film 'THE MAN WHO SUED GOD', recently Nigel appeared as a hoaxer on the 'Camera Trap'.  Nigel has just finished a role as 14th century story teller ,Oliver, for the Outlawed exhibition at the National Museum of Australia in Canberra.This is Nigel's fifth celebrity challenge and he is sure this one will be as much fun as the others.
